Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna is an ecumenical Christian ministry, so our principles are rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Our purpose is to provide shelter as a means of demonstrating Christ’s love to those who lack a decent, affordable and safe place to live. Unapologetically Christian and radically inclusive, we value all people and welcome everyone to our work and mission. Because we have received God’s love, grace, and mercy, we’re enabled to share that same love with others. Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

What a beautiful picture of how the mission of Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna comes together. When we work together, we are harmonious parts of one body, each doing what we can, and together, with God’s help, we can fulfill our mission to put God’s love into action building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable housing in Harford and Cecil counties.

How do we do this?  We collaborate with community partners and our faithful supporters to create a positive impact within our community through affordable, decent homeownership.

Since 1993, our faith partners have helped fund and build 120 homes. We are so grateful for the past support!

Our 2022-2023 Faith Campaign is raising money to build homes for two single mothers in our community. The first home is in Havre de Grace and will be purchased by Ruth, the mother of two children. The second home in Elkton will be purchased by Felicia, the mother of three children. That’s five children who – with your support – will have the stability of affordable and safe housing. This is particularly powerful because affordable homeownership is the number one way to break the cycle of poverty, improving families’ lives today and for generations to come.

Below we have two short videos – the first focuses on Lent and the other, the two single moms purchasing these homes share a bit about how their faith and homeownership journeys have intertwined on the brief video below.

The first $3,000 in donations to this campaign will be matched through the generous support of Christ Fellowship Church in Forest Hill, Clarks United Methodist Church in Bel Air, Union United Methodist Church in Aberdeen and Mr. and Mrs. Charles & Shirley Hicks of Elkton, furthering the impact of your donation.

Will you share this campaign with your congregation and consider personally donating to partner with us and other faith communities to fund this build?  We’ve extended our original goal of finishing fundraising by January 31st to run through Lent – ending on Easter Sunday April 9th.

We welcome volunteers on these builds too.  To learn about volunteering, please contact Michelle Louderback at mlouderback@habitatsusq.org.
